Grade 2/3
Click here for a printable PDF version of the listening log.

Choose a listening selection at the bottom of the page. Listen once before beginning the listening log. You can listen as many times as you like while answering the questions.

Hints: Try answering question #2 before #1. You do not need to name every instrument - just the instruments that stand out the most. Then go back to question #1 and circle the families that they belong to (as well as any other families that you hear.) You can use the instrument family pages on this site to remind you about which instruments belong to each family and to hear what they sound like.

For questions 4-8, circle the best answer (ex. If the music is mostly loud but has some soft moments, circle loud because it is what you hear the most.)
When you are finished the listening log, you can draw a picture of what you imagine while you are listening to the music.

For questions 4-8, circle the best answer (ex. If the music is mostly loud but has some soft moments, circle loud because it is what you hear the most.) If neither option applies, you do not need to circle anything (ex. If the music has a steady tempo all the way through and does not slow down or speed up, do not circle anything for #5).

When you are finished the listening log, you can draw a picture of what you imagine while you are listening to the music.
